On the heels of the "London Payne" poetry CD, CVS writes 13 new songs, using the poems of teenagers as lyrics.

Concept album:

"2-cute 2-be 4-gotten" is the latest in a series of concept CDs from Chris von Sneidern. Like last month's "London Payne," the songs are lyrics taken from assorted poems with music written by CVS to match the existing text.

The songs were composed one week, the entire recording completed the following week, at his Ordophon studio in San Francisco.

"2-cute" was composed in collaboration with poetry Chris collected, written exclusively by girls ages 13-17. The idea originally came from reading poems included in fan letters he'd received. The unique point of view at that age, combined with his music style and production, is a perfect match, and a joy to hear.

For instance, the line, "I sit all day eating triscuits, salsa. Listening to Sheryl...Alanis...Elliot" brings you right into their world-- honest, unjaded, yet plaintive and sometimes provocative.

Chris returns to a heavy handed pop production this time, reminiscent of his previous CDs Big White Lies, and Wood + Wire. A handful of the more sensitive songs employ an operatic treatment with orchestral instruments.

While it never pokes fun at the poems themselves, it walks a line between a straight rendering and the ironic humor of hearing a guy in his 30s representing the poetic voice of a teenager.
