TALE OF TWO CITIES (alt title: Get A
Little)
I gave up San Franciscan nights
And threw away my City Lights
I left my heart on a hill, nowhere in sight
You say it’s been a long time
And longer since you’ve felt my pride
I can’t deny I’ve taken a hit and moved to
the side
“Has it been a good time?” So-So
“Did you get the work done?” I don’t know
“When you think you’ll come back?”
When I get all the pieces to fit and
something to show
I figured it would be cheaper
I’d take a break and get on track
Focus on my future connections and get it
back
“The summer’s great and the days are long.
“The winter’s when we get stuff done.”
I factor in the depression; I’m not having
fun
I’m taking pictures of flowers, I have to
confess
When I decided to change, I was under
duress
Minutes turn into hours, my life is a mess
Same Thing, Different Day
You’re excused, go away
Maybe I’ll keep on moving
Make a living playing pool
I don’t suppose I could make it with all
those rules
So give me back my sweater-clad summers
Yes, open up the Golden Gate
The land of broken toys is mine in
California State
