The Wild Horse is the new release from Chris von Sneidern, a full-length CD of his full-bodied productions. Not since 1998’s Wood + Wire has he released an album of original songs.

The swan song for the Ordophon, The Wild Horse was completed before Chris closed the San Francisco studio, and moved it to Seattle.

Somewhere between the ensemble sound of Wood + Wire, and the one man musical army of his earlier CDs, the songs here are sometimes serious and personal (“Glory Days Are Gone,” “Identity”), but then whimsical and humble (“Ooh Mama Mama,” “Downtown”). While based in the typical rock ensemble instrumentation, The Wild Horse has a wide landscape of new sounds for CvS, including harmonica, keyboards, and unique samples. Above all, as always, the voice is turned up loud, and we hear Chris’ maturing vocal delivery while maintaining the plaintive quality heard throughout his work, going back to Sight & Sound in1993.

The CD was released in February 2003 on Criminal Records of Valencia, Spain, and is for sale through www.cvsmusic.com, Not Lame, and JAM Records distributors in the US.  It is set for release in Japan later this year, with extra tracks. A nationally distributed domestic USA release is being planned as well.
