The risk that one more record in the same style would feel like little more than repetition of a well-known sound was pretty obvious. Listening to +ADw-b+AD4AJg-quot+ADs-Wood +- Wire+ACY-quot+ADsAPA-/b+AD4- it's very soon clear, however, that also von Sneidern himself has been well aware of this risk and easily avoids the trap.+ADw-o:p+AD4APA-/o:p+AD4APA-/span+AD4APA-/p+AD4- +ADw-p style+AD0-'margin:0in+ADs-margin-bottom:.0001pt'+AD4APA-span style+AD0-'font-size:10.0pt+ADs- mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt+ADs-font-family:+ACI-Microsoft Sans Serif+ACI-'+AD4-This time it's more far between the times when von Sneidern's overdubbed voice sings parts with itself, it's fewer layers of sugar sweet guitars, more air in the as always razor sharp production - it's a distinct take-off for a more varied von Sneidern. A feeling that is fortified by the addition of (a discrete, yes, but none the less) an organ that comes sneaking every now and then, lays out a few soft tunes and then disappears. It's not until after some listenings I discover that organ actually returns in every song and is much more than just a discrete accessory on the side - it's much due to this organ that von Sneidern sounds different than before (read: more fervent). +ADw-o:p+AD4APA-/o:p+AD4APA-/span+AD4APA-/p+AD4- +ADw-p style+AD0-'margin:0in+ADs-margin-bottom:.0001pt'+AD4APA-span style+AD0-'font-size:10.0pt+ADs- mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt+ADs-font-family:+ACI-Microsoft Sans Serif+ACI-'+AD4-The organ gives +ACY-quot+ADs-Wood And Wire+ACY-quot+ADs- - especially on some of the concluding tracks - a spirit of its own and a feeling of both soul and, yes, gospel. Not very dangerous or innovative, maybe, but sympathetic, unaffected, unpretentious and honest.
